New Trailer for 'It: Welcome to Derry'

HBO Max has unveiled a chilling red-band trailer for It: Welcome to Derry, giving fans a deeper look into Stephen King's nightmare-filled world. This series aims to enhance the vision set by Andy Muschietti in the earlier feature films.

Exploring Derry's Dark Roots

Muschietti, alongside Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs, serves as executive producer, and the series promises an exploration of Derry's terrifying history. Muschietti elaborated, saying: “There’s a reason why the story is told backwards.”

The first season is set in 1962, preceding the events of It: Chapter One. However, the narrative will go even further back in time; Season 2 will take viewers to 1935, and Season 3 will explore 1908. The show draws from the interludes of King's original novel, focusing on Mike Hanlon's extensive research into Derry's grim past.

A Journey Through Past Horrors

Muschietti revealed, “The interludes are basically chapters that reflect Mike Hanlon’s research… fragments of his research.” Each season is intended to spotlight one of Pennywise’s 27-year cycles of terror, showcasing catastrophic events such as:

  • The fire in the Black Spot
  • The Bradley Gang massacre in the 1930s
  • The Kitchener Ironworks explosion

These tragedies will serve as a chilling backbone for the series' storyline. Muschietti confirmed, “We are basing the three seasons of this series on each of these catastrophic events.”

Premiere Date

Mark your calendars: It: Welcome to Derry premieres on HBO on October 26th.
