This week, Image Comics distributed a special "thank you" variant of Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man #1 to comic retailers, only to encounter an unexpected printing error. Instead of the intended blank interiors that reflect the character's "invisibility," some copies mistakenly contained the full comic. Skybound has announced that corrected versions, featuring the proper blank interiors, will be sent to eligible stores by September 10.

The incident has provoked discussions among comic enthusiasts about the nature of variant covers—especially when their interior pages are either missing or intentionally blank. The promotion for the variant described it as a unique offering, aligning with the theme of invisibility associated with the character. However, the unforeseen error raises interesting questions: can a comic still be deemed a variant if its interiors diverge from the intended design?

Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man #1, created by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Dani, officially releases on August 27. Fans are eagerly anticipating this mini-series that promises to explore the descent into madness of Jack Griffin, a character consumed by his pursuit of invisibility.
