Hideo Kojima Reveals Chilling Trailer for Horror Game OD
Hideo Kojima unveils chilling trailer for horror game OD.
Hideo Kojima has given fans an unsettling glimpse into his new horror project, OD, through a recently released trailer. The trailer debuted at Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary event, titled ‘Beyond the Strand’, and it’s already creating buzz among gamers.
Kicking off with a chilling sequence showing a card sliding through a door slot, the three-minute footage is layered with cryptic and redacted messages.
"Ten years since the [redacted] horror [redacted], '[redacted].' The cursed [redacted] have once again [redacted] into the forbidden."
As viewers are drawn deeper, the trailer transitions to a first-person perspective, featuring a character portrayed by Sophia Lillis. Amidst the backdrop of heavy rain, she steps into a dimly lit room filled with candles, gradually igniting them one after another. Tension builds rapidly with unsettling sounds, such as a baby crying and the disturbing sight of a mass of squirming worms.
The intensity escalates as ominous knocks reverberate throughout the room, followed by a shadowy figure ever closer to Lillis’s character, whose terrified gaze shows tears streaming down her face. A chilling scream marks the trailer's conclusion, as the figure reaches for her face.
The graphics in OD appear to advance even beyond those of Death Stranding 2, showcasing an incredibly realistic character model of Lillis. Notably, Kojima announced that OD is being developed using Unreal Engine, stepping away from the Decima engine used for his previous title.
Adding to the project’s credibility, renowned director Jordan Peele, known for films like Get Out and Nope, is collaborating on the game. Kojima noted that OD will explore the idea of testing fear thresholds, questioning what it means to overdose on fear while skillfully blending gaming and cinematic experiences.
While no release date has been set for OD, this trailer hints at a haunting experience that horror enthusiasts will not want to miss. Given Kojima’s track record, the final product promises to be both terrifying and unforgettable.
