Hideaki Anno's Shin Godzilla to Release on Home Video This Fall
Upcoming releases of Shin Godzilla include a limited edition 4K UHD SteelBook.
GKIDS has announced that it will release Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi's acclaimed film Shin Godzilla on home video this fall. The film, which features contributions from Anno of the Evangelion franchise and Higuchi of Shin Ultraman, will be offered in several formats: a Deluxe Collector’s Edition, a limited 4K UHD SteelBook, a Standard Blu-ray edition, and a standard digital download option. Physical copies are available for preorder now, with the 4K UHD SteelBook and Standard editions set to hit the shelves on October 28, while digital downloads will be released on November 11 through platforms like YouTube Movies, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Google Play.
Each edition has unique offerings. The Deluxe Collector’s Edition includes the film’s SHIN GODZILLA: ORTHOchromatic version, akin to the Japanese Special Edition, as well as a booklet that offers insights into the making of the film, translated into English. Additionally, physical copies will feature over three hours of bonus content on the “White” disc.
The gripping plot follows a terrifying creature emerging in Tokyo Bay, leading the Prime Minister to urge citizens to stay calm. As chaos ensues, the monster evolves, prompting the government to mobilize a diverse task force. An envoy from the U.S. Department of State arrives with crucial classified documents marked "GODZILLA," setting the stage for an intense showdown.
Directed by Hideaki Anno and co-directed by Shinji Higuchi, Shin Godzilla blends exhilarating action with incisive political commentary, making it a notable entry in the Godzilla franchise.
