Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Manga Pauses Again for Author's Health
Go! Go! Loser Ranger! manga pauses again due to author Negi Haruba's health.
Negi Haruba, the creator behind the wildly popular manga Sentai Daishikkaku (known in the West as Go! Go! Loser Ranger!), is taking another medical break. The series, which runs in Weekly Shonen Magazine under Kodansha's publishing banner, has gone on hiatus for the second time this year—following a similar pause back in February.
The manga is expected to resume publication in August after Haruba recovers. While the publisher hasn't disclosed specific details about the health concerns, the decision underscores the grueling toll that serialization can take on creators working under weekly deadlines.
Sentai Daishikkaku has become a genuine phenomenon since launching in February 2021. The premise—told from the perspective of the villain's minions rather than the heroes—struck a chord with readers, and the series has since spawned two animated seasons now streaming on Disney+. That level of success, while validating, also means relentless pressure to maintain output.
Two hiatuses in a single year is a stark reminder that even beloved creators need breathing room. Haruba's willingness to step back for health reasons, rather than push through exhaustion, sets a precedent that resonates beyond this one series. Manga creators have historically faced brutal work conditions, and instances like this—where a major publisher supports a creator's medical needs—hint at a slow shift in industry standards.
Fans will have to wait until August to see what happens next in the story, but the break is almost certainly necessary. The series has built enough momentum and goodwill that a couple of months off won't derail its trajectory. If anything, giving Haruba proper rest now protects the long-term health of both the creator and the work itself.
