Fusai Naba to Launch New Manga on September 5
Fusai Naba announces his new manga, Tenpō Zankoku Monogatari, debuting soon.
The 17th edition of Shogakukan's Big Comic Original revealed on August 20 that renowned mangaka Fusai Naba, known for his previous works like Aliens Area and Kyokuto Necromance, is set to release a new manga titled Tenpō Zankoku Monogatari (Crueles Relatos de la Era Tenpō) on September 5. Accompanying the announcement was a promotional illustration that hints at the work's evocative atmosphere.
The storyline will follow a man in pursuit of justice during a period marked by hunger and corruption. While additional details remain scarce, the title suggests a thematic shift towards historical and social commentary, diverging from Naba's earlier works.
Naba first captured attention with Aliens Area, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in June 2022 but concluded in October of that same year, compiling only three volumes. The series is available digitally in English through MANGA Plus and Viz Media. More recently, in April 2024, he released Kyokuto Necromance, which also ran in Weekly Shonen Jump, ending in September with a total of two volumes. This title is likewise available digitally on MANGA Plus and is expected to be released by Viz Media in digital format this fall.
With this new announcement, fans of Fusai Naba are eager to explore a different side of the author as he delves into a darker, more reflective historical setting, moving away from the science fiction and fantasy themes of his past projects.
