Extra content has arrived for Donkey Kong Bananza, confirmed during today's Nintendo Direct. The new paid DLC pack, DK Island and Emerald Rush, is available now for $19.99 on the Nintendo eShop. This DLC introduces players to DK Island, featuring nostalgic elements and a massive stone Kong face that can be climbed or destroyed.

The DLC shifts the focus from gold to emeralds, which is central to the new Emerald Rush mode. This mode unlocks after players complete the base game, allowing them to race against time to gather emeralds, all while completing mini-goals with the risk of a premature end if they fail.

As players progress in Emerald Rush, they can unlock new costumes for characters DK and Pauline, along with collectible statues for personalizing DK Island. For more details, check out IGN's first impressions of the DLC.

Additionally, a free demo of the main game will be released on the Nintendo eShop later today for anyone yet to dive into this adventure. Developed by the Super Mario Odyssey team, Donkey Kong Bananza, launched for Nintendo Switch 2 in July, has received widespread acclaim, including a perfect score in IGN’s review.

Today is packed with Nintendo updates, including significant announcements for Mario, Pokémon, and Fire Emblem. For the complete roundup of the Nintendo Direct September 2025, visit the website.
