In an exciting update, YTV has announced that the beloved Detective Conan anime series will present a one-hour special titled Meitantei Conan Episode "ZERO" Kudō Shinichi Suizokukan Jihen (Detective Conan Episode "ZERO" Shinichi Kudō Aquarium Incident) scheduled to air in January 2026. This special episode will take place shortly before the main storyline kickstarts, exploring young detective Shinichi Kudō and his adventures.

During the episode, Shinichi and his love interest, Ran Mōri, visit an aquarium to devise a plan to reunite the separated parents Kogoro Mōri and Eri Kisaki. However, their visit quickly takes a dark turn as a murder incident unfolds, prompting Shinichi to solve the mystery while still in his high school persona.

Having first aired on January 8, 1996, Detective Conan is celebrating its upcoming 30th anniversary and has treated fans to over 1,100 episodes to date. Furthermore, TMS Entertainment has started streaming select episodes of the series on Crunchyroll and Netflix as of July 3, introducing viewers to the thrilling arcs featuring the Black Organization. Notably, the special episodes are also available with a brand-new English dub, making them accessible to a broader audience.

The manga series, authored by Gōshō Aoyama, debuted in Shogakukan's Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine in 1994 and has led to the creation of a long-running anime and film series. The franchise continues to captivate fans worldwide, solidifying its place in anime history.

For those unfamiliar, the plot centers on Conan Edogawa, the alter ego of detective Shinichi Kudō, who finds himself in a child’s body after being poisoned. Alongside detective Kogoro Mori and his daughter Ran, Conan works to crack perplexing cases. The recent film, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback, opened at #1 at the Japanese box office on April 18.
