Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Film Becomes Japan's #2 All-Time Hit

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai has achieved remarkable success, becoming the second highest-grossing film in Japan just 60 days after its release. As of September 15, the film has sold over 23 million tickets, generating approximately 33 billion yen (around $224 million). This milestone surpasses the legendary Spirited Away, which previously held the record at 31.68 billion yen.

Globally, Infinity Castle has sold nearly 55 million tickets, bringing its worldwide earnings to about 68 billion yen (approximately $462 million). The top spot for highest-earning film in Japan remains with the earlier Demon Slayer film, Mugen Train, which earned 40.75 billion yen.

Infinity Castle quickly reached 30 billion yen in just 46 days, setting a new speed record in Japan, previously held by Mugen Train at 59 days. The film debuted in the U.S. and Canada on September 12, making a splash by earning over $70 million in its opening weekend, breaking records set by Pokémon: The First Movie.

More than 443 screens are showing Infinity Castle in Japan, which includes IMAX formats. Aniplex aims to expand its reach beyond Japan, planning screenings in over 150 countries.
