That was fast! Last week we reported that the new movie had taken the second spot at the top.

The latest installment of the immensely popular franchise, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Akaza Sairai, has made box office history as it rapidly ascends to the status of the highest-grossing anime film globally, pulling in an impressive estimated $555 million. This remarkable achievement not only places it at the top among anime films but also declares it as the leading Japanese film in terms of earnings worldwide.

From the outset, the film's success was evident as it earned $70,611,098 during its opening weekend in the U.S., establishing a new benchmark for anime films. This figure surpasses the previous record held by Pokémon: The First Movie, released in 1999.
