Aniplex has announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai, the inaugural film in its latest trilogy, has achieved extraordinary box office success. In just 31 days, the film sold over 18 million tickets and earned an impressive 25.7 billion yen (approximately $174.9 million). This achievement places it above renowned films such as Your Name and Frozen, solidifying its position as the fourth highest-grossing film in Japan's cinematic history.

The significant numbers reveal that Infinity Castle not only eclipsed Your Name but also outperformed its predecessor, Mugen Train, which earned 23.3 billion yen in the same timeframe. Infinity Castle broke multiple records, including the fastest film to earn 10 billion yen in Japan, reaching that milestone within just eight days of its release on July 18.

Moreover, it set new records for the best opening weekend and the highest single-day earnings in Japanese cinema. In its initial three days, Infinity Castle sold nearly 3.9 million tickets, generating approximately 5.5 billion yen, contrasted with Mugen Train, which raked in about 4.6 billion yen during its first three days in November 2020.

Currently showing on a record 443 screens across Japan, including IMAX formats, the film is slated for a global release in over 150 countries starting September 12, with screenings in both Japanese and English dub. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki at ufotable, the film continues to captivate audiences with striking visual storytelling and a compelling soundtrack featuring artists Aimer and LiSA.

The Demon Slayer franchise has witnessed remarkable growth since the manga's debut in 2016, with over 200 million copies now in circulation worldwide. This latest film reaffirms its cultural impact and the enduring popularity of anime in the global entertainment landscape.
