An all-new anime series based on Hideo Kojima's influential Death Stranding is officially coming to Disney+, scheduled for release in 2027. The series will be titled Death Stranding Isolations. The announcement was made on November 13, 2025, revealing plans to bring an original story inspired by the renowned video game to a global audience.

Details and Creative Team

Hideo Kojima joined series director Takayuki Sano to unveil this exciting partnership, along with concept art from Ilya Kuvshinov, who is known for his work on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. The animation style will employ a traditional hand-drawn 2D approach, featuring some of Japan’s finest animation talent from E&H Productions to breathe life into the narrative.

Story Synopsis

The storyline follows Sam Bridges as he traverses North America, aiming to reconnect a fractured nation. Meanwhile, other characters grapple with their own forms of isolation: an elderly man seeking salvation through unconventional means, a female warrior who aims to ignite a continuous battle, a boy harboring resentment towards Sam, and a girl who finds solace in loneliness. Their intertwined fates and hopes set the stage for another chapter in the Death Stranding universe.

More Projects in the Works

In addition to this anime, Kojima is actively engaged in various other projects. The recently announced Death Stranding 2 is gaining attention, along with a horror game titled OD for Xbox Game Studios, which recently teased connections to the cancelled project P.T.. Furthermore, a live-action film adaptation of Death Stranding is under development, promising a unique story that diverges from the game's plot.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the premiere of Death Stranding Isolations in 2027.
