Following the release of the first issue of the new Red Hood series, DC Comics has decided to cancel the title due to controversial comments made by writer Gretchen Felker-Martin on social media. The series, set in a fictional city called New Angelique, was launched as part of DC's Black Label aimed at mature readers.

The controversy began after Felker-Martin commented on the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which led to her suspension from the social media platform BlueSky. DC promptly announced that they would cancel all future orders for the series and offered retailers credit for unsold copies of the first issue.

In an email to comic book retailers, DC stated, "DC Comics cancels existing orders for Red Hood #2 and Red Hood #3 and any orders for future issues of the series." This decision has raised questions among fans and retailers alike.

Felker-Martin is known for her outspoken views and has faced scrutiny before for her comments, including ones about J.K. Rowling that led to previous suspensions. DC’s official statement emphasized their commitment to creators while maintaining that public comments promoting hostility or violence do not align with their standards.
