Dark Gathering Anime Season 2 Announcement
The much-anticipated second season of the popular anime Dark Gathering, based on Kenichi Kondō's manga, has been officially green-lit. The production team unveiled a teaser visual for the upcoming season, shifting the narrative setting to Kyoto.
Premiere and Streaming Details
The first season premiered on Tokyo MX on July 9, 2023, and aired across several networks, including BS Asahi and Kansai TV. The show is available for streaming on HIDIVE.
Returning Cast and Crew
The main cast will be returning, including:
- Yū Sasahara as Yayoi Hōzuki
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Keitarō Gentōga
- Kana Hanazawa as Eiko Hōzuki
- Rina Kawaguchi as Ai Kamiyo
Hiroshi Ikehata, known for his work on FLCL Progressive and Space Battleship Tiramisu, will continue directing for OLM.
Plot Synopsis
Dark Gathering follows Keitarō Gentōga, who holds the ability to communicate with spirits. After a traumatic event during junior high involving spirit possession, he becomes a shut-in for over two years. When he re-enters society as a private tutor, he encounters the brilliant Yayoi Hōzuki, who quickly recognizes his abilities and persuades him to explore haunted places with her.
This captivating mix of horror and adventure has captured the hearts of many, and with the new season, fans eagerly await the next chapter of their eerie journey.
The manga, which started serialization in Shueisha's Jump SQ. in March 2019, is also available in English through Viz Media.
