Bandai Namco Entertainment America has recently unveiled an overview trailer for Code Vein II, the much-anticipated sequel to the original post-apocalyptic role-playing game, Code Vein. The trailer showcases various elements of the game, including:

  • Character creation
  • Partner dynamics
  • World exploration
  • Combat mechanics
  • Blood Code systems
  • Weapons and boosters

The game is set to launch on January 30 (January 29 in Japan) and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Additionally, a character creator demo will be released on January 22 for PC and on January 23 for PS5 and Xbox.

Narrative and Gameplay Elements

In Code Vein II, players engage in a rich narrative where the themes of blood, fate, and destiny intertwine. The story takes place in a future where the remnants of humanity, along with the Revenants, face mounting challenges in a crumbling world. A new threat, dubbed Luna Rapacis, emerges, causing the Revenants to lose their sanity and transform into horrific creatures called Horrors.

Players will take on the role of a Revenant Hunter, guided by a mysterious girl named Lou. Lou possesses unique abilities that allow her to navigate the past and alter pivotal moments that can change the fate of the Revenants. As players progress, they will have the chance to uncover hidden truths that may secure a brighter future.

Combat features a range of abilities derived from blood obtained from enemies, allowing players to unlock diverse skills. Unique weapons, known as Jails, and companion allies provide crucial assistance, enhancing both gameplay and narrative depth.

Recap of the Original Game

The original Code Vein was released in Japan in September 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Initially delayed in its launch, the title was well-received, with elements that included an animated opening by ufotable and an opening theme performed by VAMPS. Furthermore, a manga adaptation called CODE VEIN ‐Memory echoes- by Kotoni Shiroishi was published in Kadokawa's Dengeki PlayStation magazine in June 2018.
