New Code Geass Anime to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

A brand-new anime project, titled Code Geass: Hoshi Oi No Aspal (Code Geass: Aspal The Star Chaser), has been officially announced as part of the celebrations for the franchise’s 20th anniversary. The announcement took place on December 7 during the Code Geass Project 'To 20th' Event which unveiled various commemorative initiatives.

Details of the New Project

The upcoming anime will be directed by Kazuya Nomura, known for his work on Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie, Moriarty The Patriot, and Heavenly Delusions. Mado Nozaki is set to handle series composition, while Rolua will design the characters. Yoshi will be in charge of the Agarmatha designs. This new narrative promises to expand the Code Geass universe and marks the first major story addition since 2024’s Rozé Of The Recapture.

Along with this announcement, a visual for the new project was also revealed.

Other Celebrations and Collaborations

Additionally, Sunrise has confirmed that Code Geass: Rozé Of The Recapture, which premiered in Japanese theaters in 2024 and is currently streaming on Disney+, will air as a 12-episode television series starting in July 2026.

The anniversary event also hinted at an exhibition dedicated to the franchise, set to take place in Tokyo in September 2026 and Osaka in November 2026. Moreover, a collaboration with Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025, is in the works for a crossover manga illustrated by Satoshi Ogasawara.

Revisit the Classic Series

Fans will have the opportunity to rewatch the original series from the beginning. The full 50-episode TV series of Code Geass: Lelouch Of The Rebellion will be available for free streaming on YouTube starting December 28, with two episodes released weekly until June 30, 2026.

Upcoming Stage Play

The event also introduced a new key visual for the upcoming stage play, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion – Seido ni Jyunzuru Kishi 2 (A Knight Who Follows His Beliefs 2). This musical will be performed in Osaka from January 23-25 and Tokyo from January 29 to February 1. It serves as a sequel to the initial musical that premiered in September 2023.
