City Hunter's classic game returns on February 26 worldwide.
Sunsoft, Clouded Leopard Entertainment, and Red Art Studios have confirmed a worldwide release of a "revival version" of the classic 1990 City Hunter PC Engine game. Scheduled for February 26, 2025, this game will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam. It adapts the beloved manga by Tsukasa Hōjō, which originally ran from 1985 to 1991 and comprises 35 volumes.
The upcoming version supports multiple languages, including Japanese, English, French (including the Nicky Larson edition), German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The City Hunter franchise has inspired various adaptations, including four television anime series, three anime films, and numerous video specials, showcasing the enduring popularity of Hōjō's work.
The original anime series debuted in April 1987, and more recently, the City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes film was released in February 2019, followed by City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust in September 2023. Additionally, a new live-action film based on the manga was introduced on Netflix in April 2024.
For fans eager to delve into this classic, the City Hunter manga is being published digitally in English by Coamix and Imagineer's MangaHot app and website, with Abrams ComicArts also set to release the series in new omnibus editions.
