Fans can look forward to the 29th film, set to release during Japan’s Golden Week in 2026. This new installment promises to bring fresh excitement to the beloved series, centering on a compelling character.

Chihaya Hagiwara steps into the spotlight in the upcoming Detective Conan film. As the leader of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police’s motorcycle division, Chihaya is portrayed by renowned voice actress, Miyuki Sawashiro. Following in the footsteps of the late Atsuko Tanaka, Sawashiro brings a new dimension to the character. The "super teaser trailer" gives fans a taste of her performance, posing the intriguing question: "What was it that you wanted to say that day?"

Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback paved the way for this new film by teasing the appearance of Chihaya Hagiwara at its conclusion. Not only was the film a narrative success, but it also shattered records. Opening at the top of Japan’s box office on April 18, it clinched the position of the 19th highest-grossing film in Japan by June. As of now, it ranks 18th, amassing a staggering 14.66 billion yen (approximately US$99.8 million).

Steering the creative direction of the upcoming film is Katsuya Shigehara, known for his work on Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine. The script is penned by Takeharu Sakurai, who has contributed to various Detective Conan movies. Together, they aspire to deliver a film that honors the legacy of the franchise while offering fresh cinematic experiences.

Fans should prepare for a film that not only explores new facets of Detective Conan’s world but also retains the elements that have made it adored over the years. From high-stakes drama to the intricate unraveling of mysteries, the 29th installment aims to captivate both long-time fans and newcomers.
