The anime film Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has successfully retained its position at the top of the Japanese box office for a third consecutive weekend. The film sold approximately 577,000 tickets over the weekend, generating 896,690,290 yen (around US$5.88 million). So far, it has sold a total of approximately 2.88 million tickets, bringing its cumulative earnings to about 4,371,814,390 yen (roughly US$28.71 million).

Upon its release, Chainsaw Man dethroned Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, which had held the number one position for nine weeks straight. In its opening weekend, Chainsaw Man raked in 1,251,178,500 yen (about US$8.46 million) by selling 807,000 tickets. The film also achieved impressive results by selling over 272,000 tickets and earning around 420 million yen (about US$2.8 million) just on its opening day.

Debuting in 421 theaters, Chainsaw Man featured midnight screenings in major cities such as Tokyo and Osaka. The distributor, TOHO, is optimistic, projecting total earnings to potentially reach 5 billion yen (approximately US$34 million) during its theatrical run.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has secured worldwide theatrical rights for the film, with plans to release it in U.S. theaters on October 24, ahead of its original schedule of October 29. Early screenings for Crunchyroll members will be available on October 22. Additionally, fans in the UK can expect the film to screen starting October 29.

Demon Slayer Continues to Shine

In related news, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai remains strong at the number two position in its 12th week. The film sold 272,000 tickets, earning 431,670,200 yen (approximately US$2.83 million). So far, it has sold about 24.7 million tickets, accumulating over 35.7 billion yen (around US$234 million).
