In an exciting update, Disney+ Japan has announced key voice cast members for the new anime adaptation of Tsukasa Hōjō's iconic Cat's Eye manga. Katsuyuki Konishi will voice Masato Kamiya, a freelance writer who is making his debut in the anime and is said to be modeled after Ryo Saeba, the protagonist from the popular series City Hunter. Yōko Hikasa joins the cast as Mitsuko Asatani, a detective who plays an essential role in the story.

The anime is slated to debut in September, exclusively available under the "Star" brand on Disney+. The leading roles include Mikako Komatsu as Hitomi Kisugi, Ami Koshimizu as Rui Kisugi, and Yumiri Hanamori as Ai Kisugi. Directed by Yoshifumi Sueda at LIDEN FILMS, the series also features a talented production team, including scriptwriter Hayashi Mori and music composer Yuki Hayashi.

Fans will also recognize Ado as the voice behind the opening theme song, a cover of Anri's classic "Cat's Eye," originally associated with the 1983 television adaptation. The Cat's Eye manga, which centers on three sisters who run a cafe by day and operate as art thieves at night, has had a storied history, initially running from 1981 to 1985 and inspiring various adaptations, including two earlier anime seasons.

In addition, Abrams ComicArts' Kana imprint has licensed the manga for an omnibus edition with new English translations, set for release starting September 9. With the buzz surrounding this new adaptation, both longtime fans and newcomers are sure to be captivated by the reimagined story of Cat's Eye.
