Prominently featured in the trailer is singer Ado’s rendition of Anri's classic "Cat's Eye," which served as the opening theme for the original 1983 television series. Ado will also perform the new ending theme song titled "Magic," offering a fresh musical experience for fans.
The new anime boasts a talented voice cast, including Mikako Komatsu as Hitomi Kisugi, Ami Koshimizu as Rui Kisugi, and Yumiri Hanamori as Ai Kisugi. Additionally, Takuya Satō will lend his voice to Toshio Utsumi, while Katsuyuki Konishi takes on the role of Masato Kamiya. Yōko Hikasa will portray Mitsuko Asatani, a detective entangled in the sisters' escapades.
Directed by Yoshifumi Sueda of High School DxD Hero fame and scripted by Hayashi Mori, known for Sand Land: The Series, the anime is produced by LIDEN FILMS. Yosuke Yabumoto handles character design and serves as the chief animation director, with music composed by Yuki Hayashi, celebrated for his work on popular series like Haikyu!! and My Hero Academia.
In addition to the anime, Abrams ComicArts' Kana imprint has licensed the original Cat's Eye manga, set to release in an omnibus edition with new English translations from September 9. The manga chronicles the lives of three sisters who manage a café by day and lead double lives as notorious art thieves by night. Originally serialized from 1981 to 1985, the franchise has inspired multiple adaptations, including a previous television series and a recent live-action French series, indicating Cat's Eye's lasting impact and appeal.
Fans eagerly await this new iteration, which not only celebrates the legacy of the original manga but also looks to captivate a new generation of viewers.
