BTS Photos Spark Speculation About Joker in Dynamic Duo
New BTS photos may hint at Joker's role in Dynamic Duo film.
DC Studios and Swaybox Studios are joining forces to create Dynamic Duo, an animated film that centers on the younger lives of two beloved Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Slated for a June 30, 2028 release, details about the film remain scarce, but new behind-the-scenes insights have emerged.
Behind-the-Scenes Photos
Recently, DC Film News shared new photos allegedly connected to Dynamic Duo. However, there's a caveat: the images posted may not all originate from this project. Some could even be remnants of a canceled Catwoman film for HBO Max. Notably, one photo showcases animators with a blue car, which a prior sizzle reel identified as part of an unreleased endeavor.
Joker Connection?
Among the visuals, one photo features a large building adorned in purple and green hues, colors synonymous with the Joker in Gotham. While it doesn't confirm the villain's appearance in the film, it could serve as an homage. Such visual cues have appeared in past DC films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Birds of Prey without the character being present.
Animation Style
Curiosity surrounds the combination of physical set images and the film’s animation. Swaybox Studios is noted for its distinct Momo animation style, blending 2D, CGI, and live-action stop-motion techniques.
What's Next for Dynamic Duo?
While minimal information is publicly available, a 2024 synopsis from Variety suggests a storyline exploring the evolving friendship between Grayson and Todd, challenged by divergent visions for their futures. Additionally, Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber have been tasked with rewriting the script.
DCU Connection?
Uncertainty remains about Dynamic Duo’s integration into the DC Universe. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, hinted that the film could fit within the larger DCU, although that is still unconfirmed. He stated, “I would love for this animated puppet movie to be a part of the DCU,” but emphasized the unique elements of the story might dictate otherwise.
