Bocchi the Rock! Manga on Hiatus Due to Health Issues

The Bocchi the Rock! manga is set to enter a hiatus because of health concerns affecting its creator, Aki Hamaji. This announcement was made by the editorial team of Manga Time Kirara MAX via their official X account.

Details of the Hiatus

The break will begin with the March issue, which is scheduled for release on Sunday. Previously, Hamaji had taken a one-issue break last month, with hopes of resuming serialization in March. However, after discussions with Hamaji, the decision was made to extend the hiatus for her well-being.

Aki Hamaji's Statement

In a personal statement, Hamaji addressed her situation, confirming that her health issues have persisted for several months. She clarified that these concerns are physical and not mental, emphasizing her need to prioritize her recovery for a full return to the series.

Manga History

Hamaji began serializing the Bocchi the Rock! 4-koma music comedy in December 2017. The eighth volume was published on November 27, while Yen Press licensed the manga in English in April 2023, with the seventh volume released on November 11.

Anime Adaptation

The manga was adapted into a 12-episode television anime by CloverWorks during Fall 2022. Crunchyroll simulcast the series with various subtitles and dubs. A two-part compilation movie was released in Japan in June and August 2024, and a second season is currently in production.

Wishing Aki Hamaji a speedy recovery during this time.
