Blue Miburo Season 2 Set to Premiere with Exciting New Visual
The anticipated 2nd season of Blue Miburo (Ao no Miburo) is confirmed to premiere on December 20, 2025.
The official website for the television anime Blue Miburo, based on the manga by Tsuyoshi Yasuda, has revealed that the show's second season will debut on December 20, 2025, in Japan. Along with the announcement, a new visual was released, teasing the eagerly awaited "Assassination of Serizawa" arc.
The first season aired in October 2024, spanning two consecutive cours, and was streamed simultaneously outside of Japan by the platform Crunchyroll. Directed by Kumiko Habara and produced by Maho Film, the project's scripts were penned by Kenta Ihara, with character designs by Yūko Ōba and Miyako Nishida. The music was composed by Yuki Hayashi, while sound direction was handled by Toshiki Kameyama.
Blue Miburo tells the gripping story of Nio, an orphan aspiring for a better world. His fate intertwines with two men who teach him the true power of the sword, drawing him into the early days of the legendary Shinsengumi. This action-packed narrative, rich in drama, shares thematic elements with Rurouni Kenshin and explores the lives of men driven by justice and their own interests during a tumultuous era.
Originally launched in the Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 2021, Blue Miburo has since grown to include 14 volumes, the latest of which was published in July 2024. Currently, the series is focused on the Shinsengumi arc, with the sixth volume released in Japan on July 16, 2025. Tsuyoshi Yasuda is noted for other works, including the manga DAYS, which received an anime adaptation in 2016, and Over Drive, adapted for television in 2007.
