
'Blue Lock' Announces Sequel Anime and Live-Action Movie
Exciting updates for 'Blue Lock' fans with a sequel and live-action film!
The recent Blue Lock Egoist Fest 2025 unveiled thrilling news: a sequel anime to the popular series has been announced alongside a live-action movie adaptation. The live-action film, which is based on Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yuusuke Nomura's acclaimed sports manga, is set to hit theaters in Japan in Summer 2026.
The first season of the anime, produced by 8bit, consisted of 24 episodes that aired from Fall 2022 to Winter 2023. It was followed by a 14-episode second season titled 'Blue Lock vs. U-20 Japan,' which is scheduled for Fall 2024. Fans can catch the anime on Crunchyroll, available with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages.
Additionally, the Blue Lock: Episode Nagi spin-off movie premiered back in April 2024, further enriching the franchise.
The manga, serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine since August 2018, has seen tremendous success, with Kodansha publishing the 35th volume on August 12. The 36th volume is anticipated for release on November 17. To date, the manga has sold a staggering 45 million copies worldwide.
Kodansha USA began licensing the manga for digital distribution in English in January 2021, with the 33rd volume made available on September 9.
