Game Science Unveils New Action RPG: Black Myth: Zhong Kui
Black Myth: Wukong developer Game Science has announced a new action RPG titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui, rooted in Chinese mythology, although details remain sparse at this early stage of development.
During the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, Game Science introduced the next chapter in the Black Myth series, titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui. This new action RPG will feature Zhong Kui, a Taoist god known for his ghost-catching prowess, further expanding the series inspired by rich Chinese folklore. The reveal, presented by Geoff Keighley, included a graphical teaser, but the studio admitted that the game is still in its infancy, lacking any available gameplay footage.
Keighley noted, "This will once again be a single-player ARPG rooted in ancient Chinese myth and folklore." The official announcement was reinforced by a poetic video description that hints at the narrative depth expected in Zhong Kui’s journey between worlds. A dedicated website for the title confirms that it will be available on PC and all major console platforms.
Game Science has characterized the current state of development as "little more than an empty folder," emphasizing the early exploration phase. The announcement aligns with an August 20 tradition for the studio, despite uncertainty regarding the release date. The team expressed confidence in their ability to innovate as they build on the experiences gained from Black Myth: Wukong, suggesting that fans can anticipate both new features and potential future expansions for the original title.
In a nod to loyal fans, the studio reassured that the saga of Black Myth is far from over, leaving the door open for further developments in the franchise.
