James Gunn Updates on The Brave and the Bold Script Delays
James Gunn updates fans on the delayed Batman film script.
Latest Update on Batman's Return
Fans eagerly waiting for Batman’s next cinematic adventure received unexpected news from James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios. The upcoming film titled The Brave and the Bold, which will feature Batman and his son Damian Wayne as Robin, is still without a finalized script.
Current Status of The Brave and the Bold
Gunn addressed the concerns of fans on Threads after a rumor suggested the screenplay was complete and slated for a 2028 release. He promptly dismissed this claim, stating, "Fiction, sorry. Screenplay isn't finished." This statement aligns with his past comments, indicating that progress on the film has been slow.
Insights from Gunn
In previous remarks made last July, Gunn shared, "There’s really no new updates. I mean, we’re working on a script. We have a screenwriter who’s hammering away at it. I’m very involved, and so, you know, we’ll see what happens next. I wish I had more news for you, but I don’t." His candidness about the project suggests he is focused on ensuring the film meets expectations, even if it results in a prolonged wait for fans.
Future of Batman in Cinema
While The Brave and the Bold is still shaping up, fans will not be left without a Batman fix for much longer. The Batman: Part II, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, is confirmed for an October 1, 2027 release. New cast members include Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson in a yet-to-be-disclosed role, alongside Colin Farrell reprising his role as the Penguin, though for just a few scenes. It's essential to note that this version exists outside of the DC Universe as an Elseworlds narrative.
Looking Ahead
On the horizon, the DC Universe will introduce Supergirl, the first solo film for Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, followed by a TV series titled Lanterns, focusing on the Green Lantern Corps. Although fans might need to exhibit some patience for Batman's DCU debut, Gunn’s commitment to quality suggests a thoughtful approach to the beloved character’s return.
