We found the best anime collectible store in Barcelona: Akatsuki Anime Store
Akatsuki Anime Store: Barcelona’s hidden gem for anime fans and collectors. From Dragon Ball to Evangelion, explore Spain’s best spot for anime figures, model kits, and rare finds.
Europe isn’t just home to breathtaking architecture, lush gardens, and centuries-old castles — it’s also a growing destination for anime culture. Spain, in particular, has one of the strongest anime fan communities in Europe, something that became evident during our visit to the first international edition of San Diego Comic-Con in Málaga a few months ago.
This time, while the Our Comics team was strolling through Passeig de Sant Joan, we took a turn onto Ronda Sant Pere and spotted a familiar word on one of the buildings… Akatsuki.
Curious to see what it was about, we stepped inside, and we weren’t prepared for what we were about to discover. What awaited us was nothing short of anime paradise: a tsunami of collectibles from floor to ceiling, celebrating every corner of anime fandom.

A Hidden Gem for Anime Collectors in Barcelona
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by a long corridor filled with figures, collectibles, and merchandise from your favorite series. Whether you’re an old-school anime fan and collector (like us!) or a newcomer just diving into the deep waters of anime and manga culture, you’ll find something that speaks to you here.
And if you’re the type who likes to see what you’re buying first, don’t worry — many of their items are beautifully displayed in glass cases so you can admire the craftsmanship before you decide.

As you make your way through the corridor, you’ll find dedicated display cases for legendary series such as Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer, One Piece, and Attack on Titan. There are also special displays for beloved classics and modern hits like The Apothecary Diaries, Ranma ½, Cardcaptor Sakura, Jujutsu Kaisen, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and stunning model kits from series like Armored Core and Gundam Wing.

Model Kits
Speaking of model kits — one of the highlights of Akatsuki Anime Store is a full room dedicated entirely to them.
Here you’ll find shelves lined with kits from iconic mecha and sci-fi series, including:
- Neon Genesis Evangelion
- Armored Core
- Gundam Wing Series
- Macross
- Dragon Ball
At the centre of the room, there’s a neatly organized section with all the tools, stickers, and paints you’ll need to customize your builds down to the finest detail.
Takeaway: What We Bought
After exploring the hobby room, model kits, and incredible displays, we found yet another small room featuring gaming merchandise and Funko Pop collectibles. And here’s where we struck gold.
At this point, you might be wondering:
“That’s awesome, but what did you end up buying?”
Well… we loved the store so much that we went back the next day. Navi, who loves both anime and cute animal-themed items, picked up a few adorable Mofamofy figurines.
As for me — I finally got my hands on something I’ve been chasing for years: a Macross Plus YF-19. While Akatsuki had an impressive selection of Valkyrie models like the Störmvögel, Durandal, and Siegfried, I had to go with the YF-19 because of my love for the Macross Plus OVA.
But the real surprise? I found something I couldn’t find anywhere else: the Ranma ½ Funko Pop series. I’d been hunting for both versions of Ranma (girl) and Shampoo (cat) since SDCC Málaga — with no luck. Here, I found both were displayed side by side.
The friendly staff kindly held them for me while I continued browsing. I even scored an Initial D keychain featuring the Fujiwara Tofu Shop logo (a must-have for any true fan of the series).
