Aniplex of America has unveiled an exciting new clip for its release of "Clockwork Girl," the first installment in the original anime series titled Virgin Punk, directed by Yasuomi Umetsu and animated by SHAFT. The clip provides a thrilling glimpse into a shootout scene, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

In addition to the clip, Aniplex has also streamed an English-subtitled comment video featuring the creator and director, Yasuomi Umetsu, sharing insights about the project.

Screening Details

Aniplex of America and Fathom Entertainment will host screenings of the anime in theaters across the United States, scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday. These screenings will feature both the original Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English dub, along with a never-before-seen featurette exploring the anime's creation. Tickets are currently available for purchase.

Plot Synopsis

Set in the futuristic year of 2099, the story revolves around the Medical Android Technology known as “Somadea,” which has enhanced human abilities but has also led to a rise in crime associated with its illegal modification. To combat these crimes, the government has established a Bounty Hunter System, allowing registered civilians to hunt down and eliminate illegal Somadea users for bounty rewards.

Among these bounty hunters is Ubu Kamigori, who navigates this perilous world until her past resurfaces when she encounters Mr. Elegance, leading her to uncover her destiny amidst gunpowder-smelling chaos.

Voice Cast and Production

The voice cast includes notable talent such as Saki Miyashita as Ubu Kamigori, Katsuyuki Konishi as Mr. Elegance, and Taku Yashiro as Lewis Gaudi. Yasuomi Umetsu, intimately involved in character design and direction, has previously worked on titles like Kite and Girl's High.

The film, which opened theatrically in Japan on June 27, debuted strong in mini-theater rankings, showcasing its popularity in the anime community.
