'Always a Catch!' Anime Announcement
The official website for the anime adaptation of the light novel Always a Catch! (Nigashita Sakana wa Ookikatta ga Tsuriageta Sakana ga Ookisugita Ken) by Mayo Momoyo has officially confirmed that the series is scheduled to premiere in Spring 2026. Accompanying this announcement is a trailer that showcases the promising start of the series along with a striking teaser image.

Cast of Characters
- Maria Annovazzi: Voiced by Yuu Serizawa (known for roles in Kakegurui and How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord)
- Renato di Rubini: Voiced by Atsushi Tamaru (notable for work on Tamako Market and Fate/Extra Last Encore)
- Aida Amethis: Voiced by Saori Hayami (recognized from Spy x Family and Oregairu)
- Placido di Rubini: Voiced by Shuichirou Umeda (noted for Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie and Zom 100)

Production Team
The series will be directed by Akira Oguro, famous for his work on Giant Beasts of Ars and Namu Amida Butsu! Rendai Utena. Michiko Yokote, known for Ao-chan Can’t Study! and Call of the Night, will supervise the scripts, while Isamu Suzuki will handle character designs, bringing his experience from Shinobi no Ittoki.
About the Original Work
The original story of Nigashita Sakana wa Ookikatta ga Tsuriageta Sakana ga Ookisugita Ken was first published by Mayo Momoyo as a short tale on the platform Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2020. That same year, she began a sequel series set within the same universe, blending romance, comedy, and social intricacies within a modern fantasy setting.
