The live-action adaptation of Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters Per Second unveils its theme song "1991" by Kenshi Yonezu, promising a captivating cinematic experience. The film hits theaters on October 10, starring SixTONES member Hokuto Matsumura in the lead role.
The highly anticipated live-action version of the beloved anime 5 Centimeters Per Second has released trailers that spotlight the theme song titled "1991," performed by Kenshi Yonezu. Interestingly, both the characters Takaki and Akari are linked to the year 1991, coinciding with Yonezu's birth year. Scheduled to premiere on October 10, the film features a skilled cast, including Hokuto Matsumura as the adult Takaki Toono, alongside child actors Haruto Ueda and Noa Shiroyama portraying younger versions of Takaki and Akari, respectively.
The film's narrative, adapted from the original anime released in 2007, follows Takaki Tono as he navigates the complexities of love and longing across three distinct stages of his life. Viewers will witness his heartfelt attempts to reconnect with Akari Shinohara, a girl he cherished in his youth, while facing the emotional struggles of adolescence and adulthood.
